Proper Knowledge
There are certain diving skills that must be learned.  With a professional teaching system, you can study the information at your own pace.  An instructor is always available for assistance.

Proper Skills
You must develop ability with basic scuba skills, such as moving in the water and equipment handling.  The best way to learn is from a qualified instructor at a professional scuba school.  Review and practice time reinforces the skills.

Proper Equipment
The most comfortable, convenient and enjoyable way to dive is with your own set of properly-fitted equipment.  As you become familiar with your equipment, your ability level increases. Annual servicing assures your equipment's performance and minimizes malfunctions.

Proper Experience
While education helps develop knowledge and skills, the key to becoming a comfortable and confident diver is simply to dive as much as possible. Your experience and ability increase as you seek out different diving locations, meet new friends, have new adventures and explore new worlds. That's why SSI's motto is "Serious Diving, Serious Fun!"

SCUBA DIVER - TO OPEN WATER DIVER IN 2 STEPS

Learn the Basics of Diving!

Scuba Diver is the perfect course for those who do not have time
to complete an entire Open Water Diver Program.  The content of this program represents about half of the Open Water Diver Program.  You
can then complete the second half and become a certified diver at another time, anywhere that is convenient for you.

The Scuba Diver Program will be fully credited towards the Open Water Diver Program.  This way you will not have to redo any part of the program twice.  After a short skill update, you can complete your Open Water Diver rating.

Certified Scuba Divers are entitled to go diving under the direct supervision of a Dive Leader up to a maximum depth of 40 feet.  This allows you to have a lot of fun and gain further diving experience even without continuing your education.

At the end of the program you will receive your SCUBA DIVER Certificate indicating the successful completion of this program.  This certificate entitles you to take part in guided dives all over the world.  If you ever decide to continue your training and become a certified diver, just contact your local SSI Training Facility for details on how to complete your SSI OPEN WATER DIVER rating.

Your ticket to the underwater world - the OPEN WATER DIVER certificate.  Your SSI Student Manual, DVD and water training sessions combined will help you learn everything you need to know to start your adventure the fun and correct way.  The SSI Student Manual includes study guide questions at the end of each section to help you retain your new knowledge and test your retention.  During your SSI Open Water Diver training sessions, you will learn all of the necessary skills and safe diving procedures to be a comfortable and confident diver.

SSI Open Water Diver certification cards are recognized throughout the world.  They entitle you to dive with other certified divers, enable you to purchase/rent equipment and obtain air fills anywhere you choose to dive.

This is the same course as the Open Water Diver program, for people 10 to 14 years of age.  Some modifications may be made by the instructor to meet the academic needs of the younger diver.

SSI's intermediate diver rating is higher than any other agency's advanced  courses.  To earn the certification for Specialty Diver, you must complete 2 specialty courses and have logged a total of 12 dives.

SSI's Advanced Diver rating stands alone in the industry, with the highest
combination of diving knowledge and experience.  No other agency's advanced diver level compares.  To earn the certification for Advanced Open Water Diver, you must complete 4 specialty courses and have logged
a total of 24 dives.

Stress is a major contributor to rescue situations and diving accidents.  Through this course you will learn accident prevention, as well as how to handle problem situations if they occur.

The program is about avoiding, recognizing and solving problems on the surface and under water.  The course runs two - four days in which you will participate in academic and in-water sessions in the pool and in the open water.  As a prerequisite for certification, you need to have a valid CPR & First Aid certificate.

SSI's Master Diver rating is one of the most elite ratings in diving today.  Divers that have completed this level have combined the knowledge, skills and experience to truly call themselves Master Divers.  To earn the certification for Master Diver, you must complete 5 specialty courses and have logged a total of 50 dives.
